Ear to the Ground. Artist Discovery Series.
I first had the tremendous pleasure of getting to listen to their live performance at this years Further Future 002 event beyond Las Vegas in the Moapa River Reservation. This was one of those moments when you realize that you could use even more pretty in your life. The duo definitely brings an incredibly vibrant peaceful vibe to the world and I love the fact that they are artists that were able to utilize a platform to break through and capture the attention of a label. I really felt the need this week to touch on an act that promotes and resonates such beauty and positive energy into our world. Soundcloud housed their first sound bites and it's all history from there.
A little history on HVOB.
The band was in 2012 by former members of the recently defunct group Herbstrock founded, Anna Müller and Paul Wallner. First sound bites on SoundCloud attracted the attention of Oliver Koletzki from Berlin independent label Stil vor Talent , who took the band under contract. It was followed by a performance at the Melt Festival, who introduced the band. 2012 appeared HVOBs first Extended Play Dogs. This reached # 4 of Beatport -charts. After four more EPs and the self-titled debut album released , Self, among other things, on the Danube Festival in Krems and in other European countries followed.
The end of 2012 the title Dogs in a promotional video of the Lebanese-French designer was Elie Saab for his use in-store collection, 2013.
2013 was the band at # 2 in the category "top live acts of the year" in DeBug selected -Leserpoll. In the same year they reached a top 15 position in the US Billboard charts "Next Big Sound".
In 2014 the band was for the Amadeus Austrian Music Award in the category Electronic / Dance nominated. The band refused in advance from their nomination. In particular, the duo bothered the partnership with the private radio station KroneHit who presented the award. The duo stated in an open e-mail on Facebook , it would not "price in a category get that sees its most important task that slumped marketing needs of (and indeed of our opinion anything but appropriate) Partners - especially unasked - to satisfy the back Austrian bands. "
Since its inception HVOB occurred among others in the Berlin Festival , the SXSW in Texas, the Fusion Festival , the Melt! Festival , the CTEMF in Cape Town, the Amsterdam Dance Event and the FM4 Frequency Festival in Austria. To date, the band played concerts worldwide in over 30 countries - including India, China, South Africa and the United States.
2014 composed and produced Müller the entire soundtrack of the movie Documentary attention - a life in extremes . It was therefore for the Austrian Film Award "Best Music" nominated in 2015 in the category.
In April 2015, the band of the British was Tate Modern invited an image to add sound to the music.
On April 17, 2015, the duo released its second album. There is an art project and is called "trialogue". For her new album HVOB have in common with the previous year s ablaze and the visual artist Clemens Wolf developed ten Trialoge the disciplines Sound, video and installation. The joint work produced over the plurality of counteracting moments, references, inspirations and associations an artistic density, which makes the album zum Gesamtkunstwerk. Themes are ten processes, naturally occurring processes, the course is documented interacting on three artistic levels: To make audio and video recordings of ten staged by Clemens Wolf processes of breaking, melting, bending, mixing, bursting, imploding, burning, oxidizing, etching and breaking the basis of the texts and sounds of HVOB tracks, the covers and the brightly-visuals and music videos. Accordingly, the album has ten tracks.
